VolunteeringPlease be aware that all parents/volunteers that have any contact with students either in a classroom/school setting or field trip capacity must have a background check, VIRTUS training classes, and their training bulletins must be up-to-date.  There are no exceptions. Please contact the office if you have questions or want to become VIRTUS trained.

Math – The Sadlier-Oxford mathematics series actively engages the students in solving a wide variety of problems.  The activities utilized throughout the year allow the students to work in cooperative groups solving real life situations.  Concepts taught: place value, money, time, graphing, addition/subtractions, multiplication/division, geometry, measurement, and fractions. Students will also be using online resources to enhance their skills through Prodigy, XTRA MATH, and Splash Learn.  Students are expected to study math facts on a daily basis.

Religion – The Catholic Religion for third grade includes: instruction in doctrine, scripture, and morality; the experience of prayer and liturgy; the Seven Sacraments, the Trinity, the Holy Rosary, and respect for the Catholic Church.  The Benedictine Values of respect, stewardship, listening, and service are taught throughout the curriculum. Each 3rd grader is responsible for documenting at least 6 service hours by the end of the year. Please use the service hour link below to document your child's service hours. These can be turned in digitally via email or in person.

Science- The McGraw-Hill series covers the science process skills, life, earth, and physical science.  The students will learn about a variety of topics through hands-on activities, demonstrations, experiments, note-taking, and classroom discussions.  We focus on Earth Science in third grade.
